The Honda CR-V EX and LX: Exploring the Difference
The Honda CR-V is a popular vehicle that is offered in several trim levels. Two of the most popular trim levels are the EX and LX. While both have a great deal to offer, there are some important differences that should be explored before making a purchase.
The Honda CR-V EX is the higher end of the two models. It includes a 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission that produces up to 185 horsepower. It also offers an all-wheel drive system, dual-zone climate control, and a power moonroof.
The Honda CR-V LX is the entry-level trim level and it features a 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. It produces up to 175 horsepower. The LX trim level is only available with a front-wheel drive system and it does not include a power moonroof.
When it comes to safety features, both the EX and LX trims come standard with a variety of features such as an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, and an advanced airbag system. In addition, both models offer available features such as a rearview camera, forward collision warning system, and lane departure warning system.
In terms of convenience features, the EX trim level comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity. The LX trim level has a 5-inch touchscreen display and it does not include navigation or Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capabilities.

Performance and Engine
The Honda CR-V EX and LX both have a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower. The EX has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT) and the LX has a five-speed automatic transmission. The EX also has a bit more torque with 181 pound-feet, while the LX has only 163 pound-feet. The EX also has a slightly better fuel economy, with an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway compared to 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway for the LX.
Features and Options
The EX has additional features not available on the LX. It comes standard with a power moonroof, an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, automatic climate control, a seven-speaker audio system with a subwoofer and an auxiliary jack, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The LX has only a four-speaker audio system and manually adjustable seating. The EX also comes standard with a rearview camera and a 110-volt power outlet, while these are options on the LX.
Safety and Security
The EX has Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, which helps better protect passengers in the event of a collision. It also has a standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) as well as electronic stability and traction control. The LX has ABS, but does not come with the other safety features. The EX also has a standard security system with an immobilizer and panic alarm, while this is an option on the LX.
